We recently received Guillermo Rejas Thomas,. He is a 27 year old student from Madrid’s Province (Spain). He came to Zimbabwe for a year of pastoral experience. Guillermo, took his simple vows as a redemptorist in January of 2016. He recently completed his theological studies and thus began a pastoral year according the Madrid Province’s formation programme. When he returns to Spain he will resume theology, this time specialising in a particular field.
In the week that Guillermo has been in Zimbabwe, he was trying to adapt to the new community, new environment (e.g. city, people and language). For this reason, Gillermo has barely began pastoral work. He has however, been told that he will be giving Spanish lessons to the novices once a week as well as to teach catechesis at the Dominican run girls boarding school in the neighbourhood. He will also be working with young people in the Redemptorist Parishes.
According to Guillermo, “The community of Tafara, St. Alphonsus House, has given me a very warm welcome, I cannot do more that thank them. During this time, I have had the opportunity of participate in the priestly ordination of our two redemptorist brothers Fr. Albert Zindonda and Fr. George Hama, who were ordinated by Bishop Raymond Mupa. It was a fantastic day full of joy, life and enthusiasm.”
